EXT. THE DEPOT – DAY

Jordan walks up to The Depot, where he catches SHARI JACKSON bringing a box into The Depot. Jordan approaches Shari Jackson.

JORDAN
Excuse me, have you seen [describes date]?

SHARI
Sorry, I can’t say I have. I’ve been getting set up for an event later today. Everything okay?

JORDAN
Not really. I made a snide remark about how dumb the arts were and I want to apologize.

SHARI
Yeah, you should apolgize. The arts are the backbone of what we do. They also have a huge economic impact on the city. For example, the Norman Music Festival, a free festival by the way, has an impact of four million dollars. Feel free to quote me on that in your apology for your date.

JORDAN
I hadn’t thought of the arts like that. I might quote you on that. Thank you.

SHARI
No problem. Maybe you can have a do over date at the festival.

JORDAN
I might. I’m new to town.

SHARI
Well then, the festival is a perfect way to dive into the local music scene. Anyway, I need to get back to work.

JORDAN
Oh, sure! Thank you.

Shari heads inside while Jordan walks down the street and sees Avery in front of The Sooner Theatre, but Avery is wearing a black robe and holding a blue paintbrush.

JORDAN
Avery! There you are! I’ve been looking all over for you.

AVERY
Oh. You have?

JORDAN
Yeah, I want to apologize. I actually ran into a few people, and I think I get it now. The arts can be different things for different people, and I shouldn’t be so dismissive if one aspect isn’t for me. I also had no idea how much they can help communites.

Avery pauses for a moment to debate Jordan’s sincerity.

AVERY
I’d like to show you something. Pick a place. We can go to the Crucible Foundry, or I can show you with one of the bike racks.
